Description:
CSX train R334-10 (Grand Rapids-Walbridge) with an ex-Louisville & Nashville C30-7 up front is eastbound approachinng the Chubb Road crossing in Salem, Michigan at around 3:30 pm. This photo location was one of last resort for eastbounds as I could get to it at very short notice from my house, about a minute away.. My preference is to have some kind of physical structure or natural feature to provide definition, and evidence, of a given location, But to catch a C30-7 leader Ill take the featurless mainline. He would have beat me to the hamlet of Salem had I tried to catch him there. The Red Wing blackbirds songs filled the air on this afternoon, heralding the coming of Spring..

CSX 2005 Rebuilt GP38-3, CSX 2004 Rebuilt GP38-3
Description:
@SX train Q559-24 (Lima-Cincinnati) is moving southward on the mainline, splitting the Southward Absolute Signals (NAS) Middle Vandalia at milepost BE 68 of the CSX+Toledo subdivision. In the lead are brand new rebuilds from the Huntington, WV shops: GP38-3 CSX 2005 and CSXT 2004. These two new GP38-3s have been assigned to the Q558/559 runs for-tersting purposes. It was cool to see them as I have a particular fondness to short-nose locomotives. I'd love to know how they rate in the testing. The two trailing units, both dead-in-tow, are rebuilt SD50-2s
